Scholarships

Capital (NV) Branch provides local scholarships each year to deserving female student applicants. The number of available scholarships depends upon the net proceeds earned from the annual Pecan Sales, the Feast of Chocolate, and other fundraisers. Monetary donations are also accepted for scholarship funding.

  • Application information will be distributed to Counselors at Carson City High School, Dayton High School, and Pioneer High School in February 2021.
  • Each applicant must meet criteria stated on the Scholarship Application.
  • Each student must plan to attend a 4-year accredited Nevada university or college or a 2 year accredited Nevada college.

AAUW Capital (NV) Branch may offer up to 2 scholarships to Western Nevada College (WNC) female students. These scholarship recipient(s) is/are selected by WNC’s Foundation based on Capital (NV) Branch criteria.

One scholarship may be offered to a returning student who has been out of school for at least 2 years, previously having attended WNC or another college for at least one semester. She will have a post-secondary GPA of at least 3.0 and be enrolled in at least 12 units.

A second may be offered to a single mother who is a returning student with a post-secondary GPA of at least 3.0 and be enrolled in at least 6 units.

WNC Scholarships and applications are handled by WNC.
