WE LEARN
- AAUW is a dynamic, national organization with a long history of affecting change on the issues women care about: education, civil rights, equity in the workplace and on college campuses, gender discrimination and more.
- AAUW Capital Branch provides interesting and educational programs each month. Our members are life-long learners, volunteers, and advocates for community issues.
WE SUPPORT EDUCATION
- AAUW Capital Branch provides financial scholarships for two local high school girls who are planning to attend WNC or UNR.
- A scholarship is also awarded to a WNC student who is returning to school to complete a degree.
- The Capital Branch also supports the AAUW Educational Foundation which provides grants and fellowships to deserving women graduate and doctoral students. In just the last 10 years, $42,000 has been distributed.
WE COLLABORATE
- AAUW Capital Branch is collaborating with WNC to provide programs expanding student awareness of issues related to gender discrimination and equity in the workplace and on college campuses.
WE CONNECT
- AAUW Capital Branch collaborated with the League of Women Voters and Sierra Nevada Forum to provide voter educational forums about key statewide ballot initiatives
- The Capital Branch sponsored candidate forums for Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, US Congress, State Assembly and Senate candidates.
